Violet learns to walk with a push-toy

Violet is almost 9 months old already! We're just about 10 days away and I can't believe all the progress that she has made so far this year! Violet has some favorite TV shows/personalities. She really loves Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Rachael Ray. She gets really excited when she hears the music and stops whatever she is doing to watch the tv.

Her next Dr. appointment is Friday the 6th and I will definitely post for that.

Violet's first trip to Belleville, IL

Here is Vi wrapped up all snug and cozy at the Belleville Chili Cook-off. We've gone the past few years and I think its becoming a tradition. Its usually a lot of fun. Violet had never been in such a dense crowd of people and she freaked out when she couldn't see us anymore sitting in the stroller. So I had to hold her for a while. It was about 54 degrees outside. We didn't really sample that much chili for some reason. I was more interested in the funnel cake! Which was awesome!! I think I prefer going during the day though. We went at about 7pm and it was SOOOOO crowded. According to their website 40,000 people came last year. Its only a 2 day event! It was nuts.

Anyway, next year when we go she will be walking and talking. It should be lots of fun. I cant wait!

random pics. Up to age 8 months.

Back for more.

Well, with facebook driving me absolutely up the wall I've decided to just get back into the swing of blogging.

So, here's what is new. Violet is just shy of turning 8 months old! Can you believe it?! She is crawling, standing, cruising, eating 3 solid meals a day and is also learning how to eat finger foods. She is still in cloth diapers and I'm still nursing her at every feeding. She naps once in the morning for about 45 min and once in the afternoon for 1-3 hours. She's usually in bed by 8 and wakes once or twice in the night. I only nurse her once in the middle of the night. Not every time she wakes. I am trying to get her to only wake once in the night and hopefully by the time she is one, she wont wake at all. (fingers crossed)

She loves to explore all over the house and is beginning to mimic sounds. (like a dog barking) She gives high fives, kisses, hugs, waves hello and goodbye and she likes to talk a lot. She says yaya, mama, dada, aaaa, oooo, eew, eye-eye, sssss, etc. Those are the most common. She just learned yesterday how to play peek-a-boo with a cloth all by herself!

She still doesn't have any teeth yet...which is ok with this nursing mama!

3 Months old!

So Vi hasn't really hit any HUGE milestones yet. Which is why I haven't really posted anything for a while. She likes to suck on her hand a lot and she has started taking long naps, YAY! She follows mommy and daddy's voice pretty well. Not all the time but she's getting pretty good at it. She likes the swing more. I can sometimes get her to nap for about 3 hours in the morning. She sleeps 8 hours at night. She gets up between 5:30 and 6am, every day. She has laughed out loud at least twice. But only one little "ha." She talks up a storm now. We have her on video yelling at her mobile. She drools a little now too.

I still dont have a job. I am currently looking for either a massage job or some kids to watch in my home. I have also come up with a line of nursing gear. Hopefully I will be able to make a bunch and sell them online, or possibly in a local store. I'm hoping to be able to start selling by the end of the year, maybe sooner. Anyway, here are the latest pics.

7 weeks old, already!

This baby is just the cutest little thing! Ok, I can definitely admit...a little bit of a hassle but cute! OK, I quit my job and I'm currently working on a contract for in-home day care. I hope to start in a couple weeks. ( We cant afford not to) So I guess technically I will be a stay at home mom! YAY! Until it drives me crazy at least. I hope to eventually start doing some massages on the weekends. I have to do 50 hours a year to keep my license and I think I'm only up to about 15 so far. (sad) Anyway, this isn't supposed to be about me.

Violet is 22 inches long and my guess is just under 9 lbs. She is still super skinny. She is too long for newborn onesies but still doesn't quite fill out newborn sized pants. She is still sleeping in her bassinet and she is sleeping around 6 hours a night. During tummy time a few days ago she rolled over from her stomach to her back. She has started a little talking and if you leave and come back before she cries she smiles really big that you are there. --I hope that makes sense.

We really want to get some professional pictures taken but haven't gotten around to it because we're busy or lazy or just suck...I dont know.

She still likes to be held ALL DAY! It kind of get annoying but I can get a few things done if I wear her in my sling. I use the Maya Wrap. Its pretty awesome. Vi really likes it, she usually falls right to sleep or just stares at my face the whole time she is in the sling. She still hates the swing and sometimes I can put her in the bouncy seat for about 5 minutes. I have been sitting her up in the boppy and she likes that sometimes. She has started to be ok with the carseat sometimes but mostly hates it. (she hates everything! -Just like me)

2 weeks, 1 day and Dad is back at work!

Hey everyone.

Things are going well here in the Fisher Household. Baby Violet is doing well. She's eats so much I feel like I never put her down and she doesn't like to be put down much either. She saw the doc today. She weighs 6lbs 8 oz and is 20 1/2 inches long. She's still a little too small to fit into newborn size clothing. We have her in some preemie clothes and they will soon be a little too small. She is just SO skinny. I cant wait until it gets a little more warm outside and she gets a little bigger. Its going to be so much more fun.

I have been a little (let me strongly emphasize "A Little") depressed but Justin and some of my friends and family have been helping me. I am so lucky to know so many awesome people! Justin has been so wonderful for the past couple weeks. I'm so sad that he's not going to be home with me for the next few weeks. One day alone and I miss him already!

And once again, a huge THANK YOU for all the gifts from everyone. We love you all!

Baby Violet is here!

First off...I will try to write a more detailed blog the next time I have a minute .

Second, Violet Maren Fisher has officially graced us with her presence. She was born on Weds February 4th and 4pm. She was 6 lbs 5 oz and 19 in long. She is super tiny and super adorable! She has brown hair and her eye color is yet to be determined. Right now they are a super dark blueish color.

We were in the hospital for a day and a half and she's been doing well at home. I haven't really been getting sleep but expect to some time soon. I think I've had about 12 hours since Monday night and its now Saturday afternoon. Maybe I can get some sleep during the week when we aren't expecting company. Other than that I have been doing fine. I haven't really had too much pain since delivery. Violet on the other hand has been a little gassy last night and today. So I changed my eating habits a little and hope that it helps. She is a really slow eater. She likes to take around and hour for each feeding. Hopefully when my milk comes in she wont take quite so long.

Justin and I really appreciate all the help and gifts from family and friends. We are so blessed!

no more work....

I have decided not to go to work anymore. I was going to try to go in tomorrow(Friday) but I missed my dr appt. on Tuesday and I really want to get in before the weekend. I also finally had that "mother's intuition" and I am pretty sure its a boy. I am about 90% sure.

I'll update if I go to the dr tomorrow, otherwise there wont be any updates until Monday.

Saw the Doc....

Ok, I'm dilated 1 and a half cm. Making progress! The doc is predicting I will go into labor early, as much as 10 days early!! Score! I can only hope! We are READY!

I bought a snow suit today for $5 at Target. Its blue but, eh.. it was $5. I figure we wont use it much since the baby is due in Feb. and will be at home for a long time. Hopefully it will start getting warm in march(unlikely)...we'll have to wait and see.

Stay Tuned.....

more nursery photos....oh, and I'm sick

Justin and I went shopping this past weekend and bought almost everything we need for the baby. We are waiting to get our diaper champ, a hamper, and a snow suit (if we can find one we like). That's all we need! --I think. I've been knitting some sweaters and booties for the baby this weekend.

Also, Thursday I started feeling like crap and took my temperature and it was only 100.9 but my doc recommended that I not go to work and to get some rest. Friday morning I woke up and it was 101.4 and decided to stay home again. Later in the day Friday it went up to 102.5 and didn't go any lower until sometime in the afternoon on Saturday. Sunday it was around 99.9 and Justin and I did a bunch of housework. Today (monday) I went into work and it was a little over 100. A few hours later my boss sent me home because he didn't know if I was contagious or not and I had massages scheduled for the rest of the day. I came home and took a 2 hour nap and my fever went back up to 101.5. I hope I start feeling better soon because I need money for when I'm out of work during my maternity leave. But I did make a huge pot of super yummy chicken noodle soup!

These are the monkey decals Justin put up for me. How adorable!

Saw the Doc....again....

Ok, now I've gained somewhere around 28-30 lbs. The baby's heart rate was 140 bpm. My blood pressure was a little high, 126/70. I'm thinking its because I have been stressed and overworked lately. I am 1 cm dilated and the baby is SUPER low! yay. The doc says 1 month to go.

As of right now, I'm ok with that. If they baby comes 1 week early I would be ok with that too. I'm also still measuring 1 week small, which the doc didn't seem too worried about. And, if that means the baby is a little small then it can stay in there as long as it needs.

I start seeing the doc on a weekly basis now, wah-hoo. Nothing like a vaginal exam every week!

Justin and I have a busy weekend planned to get everything bought and ready to go. We still need my bag for the hospital and we need to get the car seat installed in his car too.

I will try to keep everyone updated but, I have been getting more and more tired as the days go by.

35 weeks and 4 days!

I had another baby shower on Sunday and it was wonderful! A ton of people were there and we all had a blast. I feel so blessed that so many people were there and care about the baby! We got a ton of awesome stuff. I cant wait to use it all!! We have a few more things to buy and we'll be ready for the baby. The nursery is almost complete!

Thank you so much to everyone who could make it! I'm so glad that you could! I have to send an extra special thanks out to Bridget and Erica for throwing the shower! I know they both have a lot going on right now and didn't have to do it. I really appreciate all the hard work on the shower and love you've both shown me since Justin and I have been together.

And another special thanks goes out to Tiffany (Bridget's co-worker) for the cake. It was truly the highlight of the shower and cannot be topped by anything else!

Thanks again to everyone for coming!

It was especially good to see all my old co-workers from Dierbergs! I miss you all so much and it was awesome to spend time with you all!

6 weeks left

Here is the nursery as of right now. It will probably change a little when we make final decisions where to put everything. I am proud to say that none of the furniture is new! Even though none of it matches.. haha. I love each piece for different reasons though. I need more things to put on the walls since we're not painting, it looks really boring in there. I like the green hue the curtains give off though, it almost appears as if its painted.

Just in case you're wondering why we aren't painting...we don't plan on living in this house too much longer and didn't want to have to repaint when we are ready to move.

Also, you can click on the pictures for a larger view.
